At the meeting with journalists in Stepanavan, referring to the statement of the border delimitation commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, answering the questions, also spoke about the meeting that took place Voskepar. "In essence, what we agreed with the people of Voskepar was recorded in Voskepar. I also said to our dear Voskepar residents: I know, as soon as a paper is signed, they will come and say: wow, this is not that, this was something else, they said something else, they did something else. I said to them inside the hall, please don't believe, because what we have agreed on is the way it is.
The same applies to Kirants. During our conversations, we did not delve into many working details, but I also want to say that the emergence of such a problem in Kirants, Voskepar, and Berkaber was ruled out, that's why I didn't talk about it there, I said that if it suddenly becomes clear in the delimitation process , that there is a problem with some houses, some plots of land, naturally, we will stand up for the rights of all our citizens.
Where other solutions are needed, we will build new houses in the same settlement," said Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the Prime Minister, delimitation is where we come from large maps, but even the most recent working map has deviations, that is, the maps that are used for delimitation, when they become descriptions, have certain deviations.
"The same problems that arise for us may arise for Azerbaijan as well. The difference is that people do not live in Azerbaijani villages, they live in our villages. During the time of the Soviet Union, those villages, Voskepar and Ashagh Askipara, were actually in each other, Kirants and Kheirumli were very close to each other. I mean, all issues will be resolved, and all issues are solvable," the Prime Minister said, emphasizing that this is a very important factor in reducing security risks.
As for the issue of the exchange of territories, Nikol Pashinyan said that it is a very serious issue that needs a referendum, he recalled that he said at the meeting with the people of Voskepar that not a new border would be created, but the borders that existed during the Soviet Union would be reproduced.
"They have raised some issues, and most of those issues have been addressed at least at this stage," said the Prime Minister.
According to Nikol Pashinyan, there is a lot of talk about what function the army will perform.
"The border will be handed over to the border guards, and the logic of the entire service must be changed. Today, the heads of the border guard services of Armenia and Azerbaijan are in contact with each other, and they should agree on how to implement the service. As for providing protection, it is a completely different issue," the Prime Minister said, urging not to give in to provocations.
The Prime Minister emphasized that we are going for peace, which is a very important cornerstone for the peace process.
To the question of one of the journalists, what will be the fate of the Russian bases, the Prime Minister said that they appeared due to a situation, and now what is happening is a significant change in the situation.
"A significant change in the situation should have its effect in all directions. It means that we don't have a front line, we have a border, which is a sign of peace, and this means that the border guards of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be able to protect the border by cooperating with each other," Nikol Pashinyan informed.
