The US Secretary of State commented on the Iran-Israel tension within the framework of the Group of Seven foreign ministers' meeting in Italy, expressed his belief that Tehran should answer for non-constructive actions in the region. Antony Blinken assured that the policy of anti-Iran restrictions will continue.
Speaking about developments in the Gaza Strip, the Secretary of State called on Tel Aviv not to block humanitarian supplies for refugees. He informed that Washington is working towards the establishment of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the return of persons captured by Hamas. "The only thing standing between the people of Gaza and a ceasefire is Hamas," the diplomat expressed conviction.
Blinken referred to Ukraine and assured that the partners are doing their best to support the military, economic and democratic development of that country in the long term. He called for more air defense systems, ammunition and artillery to be provided to Kyiv.
According to the Secretary of State, the question of directing frozen Russian assets to the needs of Ukraine is being discussed. He also expressed hope that the US Congress will approve the support package initiated by the White House to Kyiv today, otherwise, according to Blinken, it may be too late.
