Israel has decided how to respond to Iran’s attack, but it is expected to be limited in scope so that it does not trigger a full-blown war between the two countries, according to reports,
Firstpost reports.
On the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, Iran mounted an unprecedented aerial attack on Israel which included more than 600 projectiles. Israel was joined by the United States, United Kingdom, France, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan in a multinational defensive operation to foil the Iranian barrage.
Following the Iranian attack, while calls for a retaliation have been made within Israel, including from within Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ruling coalition, the international community has urged Israel to exercise restraint. While US President Joe Biden has assured Israel of “ironclad” support against Iran’s threats, he has also reportedly told Netanyahu that the US will not join an Israeli attack on Iran.
The Jerusalem Post cited multiple sources to report that Israel has finalised the response to Iran’s attack but not the timing.
The report said that the very fact that the decision to strike has been arrived at “shows the severity and determination of Israel’s leadership to strike back”.
