Minister of Economy of Armenia Gevorg Papoyan received Head of the European Union delegation in Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos. Deputy Ministers Rafael Gevorgyan and Narek Hovakimyan were also present at the meeting.
A number of issues related to the expansion of Armenia-EU trade and economic cooperation, sectoral financial and technical assistance provided by the EU, bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, jointly implemented programs and initiatives were discussed.
Reference was made to the implementation of the provisions stipulated under the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement (CEPA/CEPA), the rebranding and marketing processes of the new name 'Armenian brandy', support programs for the entrepreneurship sector, the use of EU technical assistance tools (TAIEX, Twinning) and other issues.
The parties exchanged thoughts on the priority directions of Armenia's economy, promotion and diversification of exports, attraction of investments, development of the capital market, improvement of quality infrastructures, development of agriculture and support programs provided by the EU regarding the latter.
Armenia's commitment to deepening relations with the EU within the framework of the new realities created at present and readiness to participate more actively in the regional programs implemented and planned by the EU were emphasized.
The minister also presented Armenia's Government's 'Crossroads of Peace' project and its principles to the guests.
