“The Transparency bill fully aligns with legal principles. We are ready to engage in discussions with our European, American, or local Georgian partners,” stated the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Georgian Public Broadcaster reports.
Kobakhidze emphasized that transparency is indispensable in a democratic society and system.
“Our stance on this matter is firm. This law is straightforward and solely mandates the annual disclosure of finances by non-governmental organizations. It is unfounded to argue that financial transparency could negatively impact the activities of any organization. If there are any misunderstandings or concerns, we remain open to dialogue and discussion. I reaffirm that the law only requires the annual disclosure of finances by non-governmental organizations and relevant media entities. Consequently, in any subsequent discussions or reviews, I am confident that our position will stand strong. Transparency is paramount in a democratic society and system,” Kobakhidze concluded.
Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze is on an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany. Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz received Irakli Kobakhidze, together with the government delegation, at the official welcoming ceremony at the Federal Chancellery of Germany.
