The turning point of 2023 and our modern history in general was the ethnic cleansing that took place in Nagorno-Karabakh and the depopulation of Nagorno-Karabakh. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated at the Parliament, presenting the report on the progress and results of the 2023 Government Action Plan of the Republic of Armenia (2021-2026).
According to the Prime Minister, he wants to consider what happened today from this point of view, noting that exaggerated hopes towards the international community or de jure allies “continually bring us disastrous consequences.”
“Unfortunately, in some circles of Nagorno-Karabakh, they did not realize that the elected representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh should come to solutions, otherwise no one can help. The international community, international actors can do 30 percent of the work, the remaining 70 percent is for the subject to which the problem refers, if, of course, that subject wants to be a subject,” he said.
"I have to emphasize again that what happened in Nagorno-Karabakh was not really about Nagorno-Karabakh, but another conspiracy to bring Armenia's statehood to its knees," he said.
According to the Prime Minister, the goals were very specific: to involve Armenia in the war, to create internal political chaos in Yerevan, to overthrow the legitimate Government and to establish a puppet Government, essentially, Armenia’s Liquidation Commission.
According to him, the implementation of that conspiracy was not realized for several reasons.
"The first of the reasons is the state thinking of Armenia’s people, when people trusted the assessments of the Government and the ruling majority. The fact that our brothers and sisters forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh were not involved in the implementation of foreign agendas is also the reason for the non-implementation of the imperfect scenario directed against the statehood of Armenia. A tribute of respect and appreciation should be paid to our brothers and sisters who were forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh for showing exceptional state thinking even at the height of the tragedy.
Unfortunately, we cannot say the same about some representatives of the former elite of Nagorno-Karabakh, who do not seem to want to give up their role as beacons of hostile strikes in Armenia.
I said and I say again that there cannot be a second Government in Armenia, there is one Government in Armenia, which is sitting in this hall, there is one National Assembly in Armenia, which is sitting in this hall," the Prime Minister emphasized.
