"On April 2, 2024, the French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Séjourné, during a joint press conference with the US Secretary of State in Paris, made groundless accusations against Azerbaijan, which are once again a clear example of France's efforts to create obvious tension in the region and hinder the peace process," the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reads.
In Baku, they noted that the French side, which allegedly "carries out large-scale arming of Armenia and encourages militarism in the region, unacceptably accuses Azerbaijan of aggressive rhetoric."
"At a time when Azerbaijan is playing a responsible role as the organizer of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), we believe that it would be right for France and the whole world to avoid such calls aimed at undermining the country's reputation and against our presidency," the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reads.
Yesterday, during the press conference held after the meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Paris, French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné said: "We see more and more false accusations against Armenia as if it is responsible for the escalation, although Armenia is probably the only country that wants and tries to avoid conflict in the region."
