Within the framework of the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the RA NA delegation met with their Danish colleagues at the initiative of Denmark, led by the Head of the delegation Søren Søndergaard.
The NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan, welcoming the delegation, noted. “We attach great importance to the development of comprehensive relations with Denmark as a reliable partner of Armenia. Our countries and societies share common values, which are a good basis for the further development of multilateral cooperation between our countries.”
Hakob Arshakyan underlined the importance of further development of the inter-parliamentary relations on both sides. “I highlight the activation of personal interaction between our parliamentarians. At the beginning of this month, the National Assembly hosted the delegation led by the Chairperson of the Danish Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Lise Bech. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to personally discuss issues of mutual interest and get to know the situation on the spot.”
The NA Vice President highlighted the special importance of cooperation with Denmark in the context of the Armenia-EU relations.
Hakob Arshakyan also touched upon the situation in the region, the negotiations on the Peace Treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Crossroads of Peace project.
The NA Vice President underscored that the Republic of Armenia reaffirms its commitment to the establishment of stable and comprehensive peace and stability in the region through peace negotiations.
The Danish delegation, in turn, expressed support for the peace process, the territorial integrity, democracy and independence of Armenia.
The parties emphasized the relations between the Parliaments, expressing hope that the mutual visits and cooperation will continue for the benefit of the development of the relations between the two countries.
The members of the RA NA delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union Hasmik Hakobyan and Tsovinar Vardanyan attended the meeting.
