We are happy to host NATO Secretary General Mr. Jens Stoltenberg and his delegation in Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General.
"This visit is your first to Armenia as the Secretary General of NATO. It is a good opportunity to exchange opinions on Armenia-NATO cooperation, as well as regional and global security issues", Armenian the Prime Minister noted.
"We are interested in continuing to develop the existing political dialogue and expanding the partnership with the bloc as well as individual member states.
We hope that the new format of Armenia-NATO cooperation, the individually tailored partnership program, will be approved soon," said Nikol Pashinyan.
He emphasized that in the light of the developments in South Caucasus region, it is extremely important for Armenia to strengthen its resistance and develop the corresponding defense capacity.
"We greatly value Armenia's participation in peacekeeping operations and consider it an important contribution to international peace and security. The Armenian peacekeeping unit continues to contribute to the Kosovo mission, and as you know, in July 2023, when the situation in Kosovo was somewhat unstable, Armenia increased the personnel of its peacekeeping unit with an additional 17 servicemen", Pashinyan said.
Nikol Pashinyan noted that an effective dialogue is being carried out in the parliamentary sector as well, as Armenian parliamentarians are involved in NATO Parliamentary Assembly meetings and Rose-Roth seminars.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Armenia remains committed to the policy of regionalization.
"Our special relations with Georgia and Iran are extremely important, and any of our cooperation cannot be directed against our own region", he said.
