The report on the progress and results of the 2023 implementation of the 2021-26 plan of the Government of Armenia was presented today in the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly, and the foreign political block was discussed.
The main speaker, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, spoke about the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, noted that in 2023, they managed to make progress on some issues of the peace treaty, but there are no tangible results on fundamental issues. Mirzoyan pointed out that although the negotiations had stopped for a long time during 2023, they have now resumed.
Ararat Mirzoyan (Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia) - When Aliyev refused the Granada and subsequent meetings, our negotiations at the level of foreign ministers also stopped at the same time, although during that time we exchanged editorial proposals. You know that in 2024 years meeting resumed in Munich and then in Berlin. I would like to add only that, being interested in unblocking, in our understanding, with the principles we envisioned, we came up with an initiative, which we named ‘Crossroads of Peace’. We are convinced that unblocking infrastructure with these insights will not only be economically beneficial to the participating countries, but also beyond the region, from China to Europe. Not only will it be economically beneficial to the participants, but it will also significantly contribute to peace. We have shared, some welcome; unfortunately, Azerbaijan took a position that this is a utopia. Today, the whole world is actively involved in the establishment of new logistics channels, facilitation of conditions, I think that we should make every effort not to be left out of big projects once again.
