The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Narek Mkrtchyan, met with the Commissioner for Equality of the European Commission of the European Union, Helena Dalli, within the framework of the 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, held in New York.
The parties emphasized the importance of cooperation in social protection, especially in ensuring equal opportunities, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia reports.
Mkrtchyan presented the sectoral priorities and the work in that regard in Armenia, detailing also the social assistance programs being implemented by the Armenian Government for the Armenians forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Dalli highlighted the importance of providing the necessary support and assistance to the people affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and, in that context, she pointed to the need for women's rights protection and economic empowerment programs.
