Armenia made very active efforts to formulate the minimum mutually acceptable formulation with the CSTO partners, by which the CSTO was obliged to address the violation of the borders of Armenia and the occupation of the sovereign territory. Ararat Mirzoyan said this and reminded that Armenia has somewhat frozen its participation in the CSTO for a well-known reason.
“Until now, it is unclear to us how our CSTO partners imagine their area of responsibility in the South Caucasus. It is an organization in which participating countries commit, among other things, to mutual aid and to protect each other's territorial integrity. Unfortunately, now when the sovereign territories of Armenia were attacked and occupied, the internationally recognized borders of Armenia were violated, we did not see that our CSTO partners have the perception of the facts in the formulation that I presented: violation of borders and occupation of sovereign territories. This certainly raises questions for the Armenian side. And until we have the answers to these questions, we have somewhat frozen our participation there,” said Mirzoyan.
