"The border control troops of the Republic of Armenia sent a letter to the border guard troops of the Russian Federation in Armenia, thanking them for the support and service provided in the Zvartnots airport since Armenia's independence, providing security and border control", Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a press conference.
"They informed that since the state institutions are developing in our country, during this whole period, including with the support of our partners in the Russian Federation, the border control service of the Republic of Armenia, in particular at the Zvartnots airport, has already acquired sufficient experience, skills and capabilities in order to carry out border control at Zvartnots airport without the support of the Russian side, and this is the entire letter and its content," the Prime Minister noted.
Earlier Secretary of the Armenian Security Council Armen Grigoryan said Armenia informed the Russian Federation about the withdrawal of the Russian border guards from "Zvartnots" in an official letter.
