On March 6, the Head of the Mission of the Republic of Armenia to the European Union had a meeting with the Chairman of the EU Military Committee general Robert Brieger, Mission of Armenia to the EU reports.
General Brieger presented the Pan-European security perspectives, the military and defense strategy of the European Union and the deriving priorities. In this context, he singled out Armenia as EU's important partner in the South Caucasus region.
Ambassador Balayan thanked for receiving him and expressed his appreciation for the high level partnership between Armenia and the EU, while stressing the importance of widening its security and defense component. He drew the attention of his colleague to the wide-scale military reforms program initiated by the Government of Armenia and in this context emphasized the need for EU support.
While speaking about the European Union Mission in Armenia (EUMA), the Ambassador noted its important stabilizing role in the context of regional security.
The interlocutors exchanged thoughts about the recent developments in South Caucasus and Eastern Europe, regional security perspectives and cooperation opportunities.
