Armenia has not made a decision regarding the withdrawal of Russian border guards from Yerevan's 'Zvartnots' airport. Russia was not informed about this through official channels, said Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary of the Russian President. It should be noted that Peskov said this before the statement of Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of Armenia's Security Council, according to which "the Republic of Armenia informed the Russian Federation about the position of withdrawing the Russian border guards from Zvartnots" in an official letter.
Earlier, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, said that the Russian border guards should leave Yerevan's 'Zvartnots' international airport, adding that the Armenian side itself will protect the country's borders. Russian Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson Maria Zakharova also noted that Moscow has not received any request from Yerevan regarding the withdrawal of Russian border guards from the airport.
At the 'Knowledge. The first" educational marathon, Dmitry Peskov also said that there are more Armenians living in Russia than in Armenia. "And they are Russians, they feel good here, we love them, they love us, too. We have lived this way for centuries and we will live this way for centuries. That's why we value the privileged high character of our relations with Armenia just as much," said Peskov. He also emphasized that the Armenian people benefit from cooperation with Russia and Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Community, as the turnover of goods, benefits, transport services and the financial sector increase.
"We are against dictating something to someone, we are in favor of earning money together, becoming happier and richer together. We are sure that our Armenian friends also understand this," said Peskov. He also expressed his belief that the difficulties in the relations between Russia and Armenia will be smoothed out, and he assured that Moscow has the political will to build cooperation, and highly appreciates the privileged nature of the relations with Yerevan.
