Due to the construction of new channels, the ‘Southern Gas Corridor’ will completely change the geography of energy supplies to Europe, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated in an interview with Euronews.
“A 3500-kilometer-long pipeline is now a reality. It is not a dream any longer. And it is embracing more and more countries, because, as I said today at the opening session, we have new interconnectors, which allow to transport natural gas to new destinations. And really, it’s changing completely the geography of energy supplies, issues related to energy security,” Aliyev said.
He noted that Azerbaijan also has a very ambitious agenda of renewable energy production projects.
“We plan to use renewable energy sources to the maximum extent after ten years and reduce the consumption of natural gas within the country,” said the leader of Azerbaijan.
