The latest package of sanctions imposed by the European Union on Russia, its 13th in two years, will have no impact of any kind on the course of the special military operation, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing, commenting on Brussels’ newest round of anti-Moscow restrictions, TASS reports.
"Our country has acquired robust immunity against sanctions to effectively neutralize the intended impact of Brussels’ latest vain attempts to undermine the sustainable growth of Russia’s economy. The EU’s new sanctions will definitely not affect the course of the special military operation, nor will they have an impact of any kind on our foreign policy," she said.
According to the diplomat, it has begun to dawn on the EU that sanctions only serve to reinforce Russia’s economic sovereignty. "We gain new possibilities and competencies in the industrial, technological and financial fields. The EU’s own economic prospects are also being undermined by these sanctions," Zakharova emphasized.
Earlier, the EU approved its 13th set of sanctions against Russia. The measures were imposed on 106 individuals and 88 legal entities domiciled in Russia and several other countries, including India, Kazakhstan, China, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey and Sri Lanka.
