Fabio Massimo Castaldo, Italian member of the European Parliament, spoke at the session of the European Parliament on Armenia-EU relations.
“A few months ago, here in this palace, we hosted Prime Minister Pashinyan, we heard his legal position to follow the European path. We promised him help, but nothing has really changed since then.
We have to be honest. This European peace institution values Armenia's membership in the European Union, but also considers it insufficient.
If we want to be a proper advocate, we must be confident at the peace-negotiating table. There is a problem of bilateral relations. A military power like Azerbaijan is aggressive towards a state that is valiantly trying to enter the European democratic camp. We cannot allow the power of arms to prevail.
Baku must understand that we will not tolerate violence against Armenia's sovereignty. We will be very tough on them.
Yerevan should know that we are by its side.”
