Economic activity in Armenia in January 2024 was up 10.7% compared to January 2023, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said.
However, it decreased by 45.1% compared to December 2023. According to official data, almost all sectors showed growth in January this year, except electricity generation. No information was available on agriculture.
Industrial production in January 2024 amounted to about 206.3 billion drams, increasing by 21% compared to January 2023. At the same time, a decrease of 43.1% was recorded compared to December 2023.
The construction sector grew 9.5% year-on-year to AMD 17.6 billion. Compared to December last year, it decreased by 86.1%.
Domestic trade volume in January 2024 reached about AMD 340.8 billion, up 19.3% from the same month in 2023. At the same time, it decreased by 51.7% compared to December 2023.
According to the statistics, the services sector (excluding trade) reached 237 billion drams in January this year, 4.4% more than in the first month of 2023. Compared to December, the sector's volume decreased by 17.2%.
