The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan stated that there was a pause in the negotiations on the peace treaty with Armenia, but the work on the text continued. Jeyhun Bayramov informed that after the meeting of the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia in Munich, a decision was made to restart the process. "In the coming days, negotiations on a peace treaty with the Armenian delegation are planned," the minister stated.
Bayramov referred to the border tension, noted that during the last 5 months there was peace on the border, although no agreement was reached. "Some circles were worried about that calm, they are doing their best to create tension," the Azerbaijani diplomat expressed his opinion.
He blamed the EU mission stationed on the territory of Armenia and the Western diplomats visiting the border for the increase in tension at the border. Bayramov called Emmanuel Macron's latest statements and the French Defense Minister's visit to Armenia provocative, noting that the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity worries some actors.
