The US Department of State responded to the inquiry of the Armenian service of Voice of America regarding the statements made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about Armenia's membership in the CSTO and the steps taken by Yerevan in the field of defense.
"We respect the desire of Armenia as an independent country to continue the security relations it has chosen, and we support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in the region," the State Department said.
Referring to the existing problems in Yerevan's relations with Moscow, the Department noted: "Russia is not a reliable and conscientious ally or partner in the South Caucasus or elsewhere. We have seen many times that Russia is not concerned about the interests of Armenia."
