In an exclusive interview to France 24 TV channel, Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Azerbaijan is preparing for a new war. According to him, the promises of a peaceful settlement of the crisis between the two countries are actually denied by Azerbaijan's actions.
Nikol Pashinyan stated that Baku considers the territory of Armenia 'Western Azerbaijan'. According to the Prime Minister, Aliyev does not want a peace treaty based on mutual recognition of territorial integrity, but rather aims to conquer new territories of Armenia.
Regarding the military aid provided by France to Armenia, he denied Baku's accusations that Paris is "adding fuel to the fire", Pashinyan emphasized that Azerbaijan, in turn, spends "billions of euros" for the acquisition of weapons.
Nikol Pashinyan reaffirmed that Russia "openly called on the Armenian population to overthrow the Government" a few months ago. He added that the "propaganda" directed against him from Moscow is not weakening.
Armenia's Prime Minister said that he is particularly worried about the kidnapping of Russian deserter Dimitri Setrakov by Russian forces in Armenia.
"We cannot tolerate illegal activities in our territory."
The Prime Minister added that if Yerevan's demands remain unanswered, there will be "consequences".
Pashinyan also referred to Armenia's membership in the CSTO. He explained that Armenia's participation in the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO), in which Moscow dominates, is practically "frozen". At the same time, Pashinyan noted that the Russian military base in Armenia is not within the framework of the CSTO.
"It is a completely different legal contract dimension, and we have no reason to address that dimension," he said.
