Following the fifth-generation Kaan fighter, Türkiye will create a sixth-generation combat aircraft. This was announced by the CEO of the company that developed the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) aircraft, Teml Kotil, on the TRT Haber TV channel.
“We will develop Kaan, and after the fifth generation there will be a sixth generation,” he said.
According to Kotil, Turkey is collaborating with companies from Ukraine in developing an engine for the fighter. “There will also be a purely Turkish engine, we are working on it and hope that the fighter will be equipped with it by the time of delivery [в 2028 году]”, he noted.
The General Director of TUSAS also said that 7 combat aircraft are currently being assembled. “In 2028, it is planned to transfer 20 fighters to the Turkish Air Force,” he said.
Cotil also spoke about plans to integrate sixth-generation fighters with drones. “We will work on this,” the general director noted.
