The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released footage on Thursday, February 22, described as showing some of its activity in the Gaza Strip, saying it carried out raids in the Zeitoun area of Gaza City.
The footage shows soldiers moving on foot through an unidentified area described as being in the Gaza Strip, with another clip showing soldiers shooting weaponry.
In the accompanying statement, the IDF said it had expanded its offensive in the Zeitoun area in northern Gaza, killing at least 20 Palestinian militants in ground and air strikes on the last day. Soldiers also engaged in fighting in the Khan Younis area, killing more than 15 Palestinian militants there.
The IDF also said that Israeli Naval Forces targeted and destroyed several vessels in use by Palestinian militant groups in southern Gaza.
Over 29,300 people have been killed in Gaza since the Israeli military launched a campaign in response to the October 7 attack by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, according to the latest figures by the Gaza health ministry.
The majority of those killed are women and children, with over 69,000 people wounded and more than 8,000 missing and suspected buried under the rubble.
The unprecedented attack on southern Israel by Hamas killed around 1,200 people and saw another 240 taken hostage, according to Israel. An estimated 136 hostages remain in Gaza, although several are believed to have died in captivity.
