Macron called the strike by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces against the Armenian positions in the Nerkin Hand on February 13 disproportionate. French President Emmanuel Macron said this during a press conference with the Prime Minister of Armenia.
“Recent incidents in Syunik prove that the danger of escalation remains real. France regrets that an Azerbaijani was injured as a result of the shooting on February 12, which was also accepted by the leadership of Armenia with full transparency. But France regrets the disproportionate retaliation by Azerbaijan, as a result of which the Armenian side suffered four deaths and injuries,” Macron said, adding that France will continue to support efforts aimed at a just and lasting peace.
