Hundreds of Spanish farmers drove their tractors towards Madrid city centre on Wednesday (February 21) demanding protection and better prices for their products, Reuters reports.
The protesters are expected to block Madrid’s main entrances.
Farmers say rules to protect the environment make them less competitive compared to other regions.
Agricultural workers across Europe, including in Poland, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, have taken to the streets this year to fight low prices and high costs, cheap imports and EU climate change constraints.
