On February 14, within the framework of the 18th session of the Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental joint commission, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan had meetings with Mehdi Safari and Ali Bagher Kani, Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mehdi Safari exchanged views on cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as economy, infrastructure, energy, and others. The parties emphasized the need for consistent contacts between representatives of the business circles of the two countries and the need to expand joint investment programs. The importance of completing the Kajaran-Agarak road section by the deadlines set by the Iranian companies was emphasised. The Deputy Minister briefed his Iranian counterparts on the details of the "Crossroads of Peace" project.
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani discussed regional security issues. The Armenian side briefed on the current state of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In this regard, the repeatedly reiterated position of the leadership of Iran on the territorial integrity of Armenia and the inviolability of borders was highly commended.
At the meeting, the foreign policy priorities of Armenia and Iran and the importance of correlating them, as well as ensuring the continuity of mutually beneficial cooperation were touched upon.
