The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, signed the decree appointing Irakli Kobakhidze as the Prime Minister, after which he officially became the Prime Minister of the country.
Irakli Kobakhidze was nominated for the post of Prime Minister by the ruling Georgian Dream party, which was in charge until the appointment. And the former Prime Minister of the country, Irakli Garibashvili, resigned and now heads the ruling party.
The Parliament of Georgia expressed its confidence in the new government headed by Irakli Kobakhidze. 84 deputies voted in favor, 10 against.
In his speech after the vote, Irakli Kobakhidze announced that he will make his first visit to Brussels as the Prime Minister of Georgia. The visit will take place on February 20-21. According to Kobakhidze, the agenda has already been worked out, and within the framework of the visit to Brussels, discussions are planned on the prospects of Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
