Electoral polling stations have opened in Azerbaijan. The election of the president has started, local mass media reports.
Today, a snap presidential election is taking place in Azerbaijan, in which seven candidates are participating, including President Ilham Aliyev.
The Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of Azerbaijan announced that 790 international observers were accredited to observe the electoral process.
The authorities of Azerbaijan try to present the elections as democratic, competitive, free and fair. In reality, however, the opposition has announced a boycott of the election, stating that its outcome is obvious.
Apart from that, Baku did not ask either the European Parliament or the PACE to send international observers for the snap election of the President.
