In an interview with the public radio, I talked about the cooperation in the field of defense and even, in fact, about the deep military-political cooperation that Georgia has with Turkey and Azerbaijan. And I asked the question that we should have the answers to those questions, why is it so? I mean, in general, when discussing problems related to our environment, we usually consider the issues in the logic of Turkey and Azerbaijan, and I think that very often this does not help us to perceive the objective reality. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this during the Parliament-Government question-and-answer session, responding to the question of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction MP Alkhas Ghazaryan regarding the relations with Georgia.
“In many cases, I say that it is not really the right approach, because due to history, emotions whenever they refer to Azerbaijan and Turkey, perhaps do not give us much opportunity to come to objective conclusions related to the objective environment,” said Pashinyan.
As for the declaration on strategic cooperation and dialogue signed with Georgia, Nikol Pashinyan noted that all directions are planned there. “This expressed the will of the governments of the two countries to move forward with the whole agenda,” Pashinyan said.
He also referred to the idea of a new Constitution in the context of relations with Georgia.
“Our environment and our relationships have changed. The world today, the global world in general, is not what it was 5 or 6 years ago. In fact, our relations with any entity are not the same as before. The nature of those relations has also changed. Our region has also changed. Many significant realities have changed in our region, and one of those realities is the fact that Georgia has received the status of a candidate for EU membership, which has an objective impact on our region. It turns out that two of our neighboring countries have the status of a candidate for EU membership, and if before it was possible to say, where is the EU, where is our region, now the EU is actually our region, and we are aware of this fact. We have to relate with, and in that regard, I also attach great importance to the start of a strategic dialogue with Georgia,” he said.
