I consider the discussions over the amendment of the Constitution to be a domestic issue of Armenia. During the Parliament briefings Gevorg Papoyan, deputy of the 'Civil Contract' faction, made such a statement, referring to the question whether the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia will be changed at the request of Azerbaijan.
"It is absolutely up to Armenia's citizens to decide, it is up to Armenia's constitution-maker to decide. Let's not bring our domestic issues to what they [demanded]. We are now giving them the opportunity to try to rule us. It cannot and should not be like that," Papoyan said, then added that there is no need to be afraid of the process.
Referring to the possible falsification of votes within the framework of the process of amending the Constitution, Gevorg Papoyan ruled it out, declaring that 1 vote cannot be falsified in Armenia, and will not be falsified, at the same time calling similar fears "surprising".
"If we were to use administrative leverage, why didn't we use it in Yerevan to secure the desired votes in Yerevan? To be honest, we don't even know how to do it," he said.
