Despite White House spokesman John Kirby's statement that the Iraqi government was informed in advance of possible strikes, Iraqi Armed Forces spokesman Yahya Rasool condemned the US actions, calling them a violation of the country's sovereignty. He expressed concern that what happened threatens regional stability.
Earlier, the US launched airstrikes against Iran-linked targets in Iraq and Syria in response to a January 28 drone attack on a US base in Jordan that killed three US soldiers and wounded more than 40.
Tehran continues to deny all accusations and any connection to what happened in Jordan. At the same time, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi warned that they are not going to start a war, but will give a decisive response to anyone who tries to terrorize Iran.
Later, the Arab media reported that a missile attack was also carried out on the American military base located in the east of Syria. It is not yet known who is the author of the attack.
