Nicaraguan authorities plan to file a lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, TASS reports.
The statement said, “Nicaragua calls on Israel to stop its actions against the Palestinian people and to stop military operations in the Gaza Strip.”
Nicaragua also called on Israel to comply with the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
On 29 December 2023, South Africa filed a lawsuit against Israel under the genocide convention at the International Court of Justice in the Hague regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip. South Africa views Israel’s actions as genocide because they were carried out with the intention of destroying Palestinians as a group. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denied genocide accusations. “The State of Israel is accused of genocide while fighting genocide,” he said.
