Mehdi Sobhani, Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Mohammad Asadi Movahed, Cultural Attaché, recently visited Matenadaran (Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts).
During the visit, the ambassador emphasized the significant role of Matenadaran in strengthening the scientific and cultural ties between Armenia and Iran. Matenadaran is a centre for the research and preservation of Armenian manuscripts and Christian values, but it also serves as a research institution for other religions and cultures.
The Director of Matenadaran, Ara Khzmalyan, presented the agenda for the upcoming visit of the Matenadaran delegation to the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the programs that have been implemented and planned joint events.
Ara Khzmalyan mentioned the Armenian-Iranian scientific conference scheduled for March and the events dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Andre Sevrugian, which will take place later in the year.
Ambassador Mehdi Sobhani expressed his willingness to provide all-round support and invited the directorate of Matenadaran to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Armenia.
