The United States views the South Caucasus as a platform for opening a 'second front' against Russia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with RIA Novosti on Saturday.
"Washington has long made no secret of the fact that it sees the South Caucasus as a springboard for opening a “second front” against Moscow," he said.
The official stressed the U.S. plans “fundamentally contradict the genuine interests of the peoples in the region."
