Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar arrived in Russia and during his visit, in particular, he will hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.
"India and the Eurasian Economic Union will start negotiations on a free trade agreement in January next year," the Indian Foreign Minister announced.
India and EAEU prepared a draft trade agreement in March 2020, but its discussion was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In January 2022, both sides presented the final wording of the terms of the trade agreement, but further negotiations and work on the agreement have been complicated by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
