Supporters of the opposition Serbia Against Violence coalition staged another protest over electoral results outside the building of the national electoral commission in central Belgrade on Wednesday evening.
Protesters headed by students gathered in front of the Republic Election Commission (RIK) headquarters demanding the annulment of the Belgrade city elections.
The protest was peaceful but dozens of eggs were pelted at the building from the crowd towards the end of the gathering.
Representatives of the Serbia Against Violence coalition and the Proclamation organization addressed the protesters.
As Miroslav Aleksić, one of the leaders of the coalition Serbia against violence, announced, their lawyers who are in the bodies for the implementation of the elections, primarily in the Republic of Croatia, will request the annulment of the elections at all levels. He told the representatives of the international community that, if they want Serbia as an orderly society, "speak up now or remain silent forever."
The Serbia Against Violence coalition’s request for the annulment and repeat of the local Belgrade elections is not within the jurisdiction of the Republic Election Commission (RIK), said RIK President Vladimir Dimitrijevic.
He said that he tried to point out at a RIK session the legal presumptions and said that the submitted request is not in order and cannot be considered by RIK because it is not within its jurisdiction.
Neither the RIK nor the Belgrade City Election Commission (GIK) have any influence on whether the elections will be repeated, but can only ensure that called election are in line with the election legislation, he said.
Dimitrijevic added that voting will be repeated at 28 polling stations on December 30.
