On December 18, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received Comfort Ero, the President of the International Crisis Group.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on issues of regional security.
Minister Mirzoyan touched upon Armenia's approaches towards establishing stability and lasting peace in the South Caucasus, normalization of relations with neighbors, and recent developments in the normalization process of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the fundamental principles which form the basis for Armenia's position regarding mutual recognition of territorial integrity, ensuring the delimitation process based on the latest USSR maps and unblocking regional communications under sovereignty and jurisdiction of states, on the principles of equality and reciprocity.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the situation resulting from the ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijan, including issues on addressing the needs and rights of more than 100,000 forcibly displaced Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as on the importance of cooperation with international partners interested in stability in the South Caucasus.
