The Crossroads of Peace project has infrastructures that have already been developed and are being implemented, such as the North-South road, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan stated in a briefing, emphasizing that some programs need additional study in order to understand their value.
Grigoryan reminded that, for example, according to the expert opinion received 1 year ago, the indicative cost of the Horadiz-Yeraskh railway will be around $230 million. The Deputy Prime Minister also disclosed the details of the working procedure for the organization and holding of the meetings of the Armenian and Azerbaijani border delimitation commissions approved by the Government yesterday.
“We considered it right to regulate that process, in particular, when we meet, where, what language we speak, whether we will speak in English or Russian. There are no dates for the next meeting yet, and the overall process will take quite a long time, as I have said several times, it is a complicated process.
As a starting map, it has been announced many times that we accept 75-90 years - the latest maps. I want to clarify and repeat: we will work exclusively with professional maps and documents that have legal significance.
During the meetings of the commissions, the parties present a map, legal documents that have a description or regulation of the border, and a discussion and exchange of ideas begins. It can't be done on a single border, it's done segment by segment.
There are no scheduled intervals for meetings. At each stage, the work will be different until the next stage, and there is no point in agreeing on standard deadlines, next time, I think, we will discuss the regulation, which will be a complex project and will take longer, and it depends on the approach of each meeting," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
