Vladimir Putin has agreed to run in the 2024 presidential election, those who spoke with the head of state in the Kremlin told reporters, TASS reports.
Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Parliament Speaker Artyom Zhoga addressed Putin on the matter following a ceremony dedicated to Heroes of the Fatherland Day and the incumbent Russian president confirmed his intent to run.
Putin’s current presidential term expires on May 7 of next year. Russia’s next presidential election is slated for March 17.
Putin will run for president for the fifth time. In the event of his victory, he will remain in office for another six years, until 2030.
