The President of Azerbaijan participated in the conference on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, which, according to Azerbaijani media, was attended by 60 foreign experts.
Ilham Aliyev stated. "After the second Karabakh war, Baku adopted a clear position. People living in Karabakh had two choices: either become citizens of Azerbaijan, or find another place to live. There was no other option," said the leader of Azerbaijan.
Aliyev stated that it was Azerbaijan that always pushed the peace process forward, not Armenia. "We have already established peace in the region and we did it militarily. This applies not only to the Caucasus. We have shown how to achieve peace through military force," Aliyev said.
Aliyev once again asserted that as a result of the September 19 aggression, there were no casualties among the civilian population and no destruction of civil infrastructures.
Aliyev also referred to the possible signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting that it is a small document containing less than 20 points. According to him, Baku and Yerevan exchanged a total of five to six comments on the draft peace treaty.
The President of Azerbaijan added that Baku wants firm guarantees that Armenia will allegedly not pursue an aggressive policy, and there will be no more wars between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Aliyev stated that the Armenian side has "advisors" in some European capitals who are straining the situation.
According to him, Azerbaijan is facing a number of international challenges today. "Unfortunately, there are misunderstandings in relations with some countries that we consider partners," he said.
