The European Union intends to develop concrete proposals for providing support to the armed forces of Armenia. For this purpose, Brussels will send a technical mission to Yerevan in the near future, Head of the European Union delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, announced today. He also emphasized that the EU is going to expand the observation mission in Armenia. According to Maragos, the 100-member mission that arrived in Armenia in February of this year contributed to easing the border tension.
Vassilis Maragos (Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador) - "We are preparing for the visit of a technical mission at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year to develop specific proposals in the field of non-lethal support. The European Union fully understands the interest of the Armenian society in terms of developing Yerevan-Brussels cooperation in the military sphere, we also understand the existing concerns. That is the reason why we want to play a role in the peace agenda. Now we are working to develop cooperation through the European Peace Facility (EPF).
