In a recent development, Poland has decided to ramp up the inspection of trucks crossing the Polish-Ukrainian border. This decision is a result of demands made by representatives from the transport industry in Poland. The announcement was made by the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure, following an agreement reached in a meeting with industry representatives,

The Minister of Infrastructure of Poland, Alvin Hayadur, has stated that additional forces from various government departments like the Motor Transport Inspection, State Tax Administration, Border Service, and Police will be dispatched to the region. These strict measures have primarily been put into place based on requests from Polish carriers, according to the ministry.
Alvin Hayadur also mentioned the government’s plan to take measures in European institutions to eliminate unfair competition in the freight transport market. The upcoming Transport Council of the EU Summit, scheduled for Monday, December 4, will discuss the consequences of the abolition of the requirement for Ukrainian drivers to have permits to enter the EU. The move has seen opposition from Polish truck drivers, who have been protesting since November 6, demanding the reinstatement of the permit system for Ukrainian drivers entering the European Union among other things.
On Friday, infrastructure representatives from Ukraine and Poland met in Warsaw to discuss measures to lift the blockade of Polish carriers at the border. Several points were agreed upon during the meeting. An additional border crossing for empty trucks will be opened on Monday to provide a new route for Kyiv. This move is aimed at reducing queues and increasing the capacity of the Ukrainian-Polish border. The Dolhobyczow-Ugryniv crossing, which currently serves cars and buses, will open to empty trucks traveling from Ukraine into Poland.
