On November 30, on the sidelines of the 30th OSCE Ministerial Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with Ian Borg, the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Malta.
In continuation of the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia to Malta in March and following effective discussions on multilateral platforms, Ararat Mirzoyan and Ian Borg discussed the topics on the political agenda between Armenia and Malta.
Touching upon the issues on OSCE activities, Minister Mirzoyan wished Ian Borg success in assuming the OSCE Chairmanship, given the serious challenges faced by the organization in context of regional security issues.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the latest developments in the South Caucasus. Referring to the discussions held in the UN Security Council in September, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that it was tragic to face the ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh, which happened despite the targeted calls of international partners.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia briefed his counterpart on Armenia’s efforts aimed at overcoming current challenges in the region, including through the work on the draft treaty on normalization of relations with Azerbaijan: Armenia sent the package of its proposals to Azerbaijan last week.
