Reuters/CGTN. Israel and Hamas have agreed to extend their truce in the Gaza Strip for an additional two days, allowing for further exchanges of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners and opening the door for more humanitarian aid to flow into the embattled enclave, a Qatari official said on Monday.
Majed al-Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatari foreign ministry, announced the agreement to extend the temporary ceasefire for an additional two days in Gaza under the same conditions as the previous truce.
The extension comes on what would have been the last day of the previously negotiated hostages-for-prisoners swaps between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Qatar and other parties.
According to reports, Hamas is expected to release 11 more Israeli hostages, including two mothers and nine children, in the fourth exchange for Palestinians held by the Israeli side.
Since the original truce went into effect at 07:00 on Nov 24 local time, Hamas has already released dozens of Israeli women and children, some of them dual nationals, in three batches.
