On November 24, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, the Head of the European Union delegation in Armenia.
During the meeting, a number of topics of the comprehensive and ambitious Armenia-EU partnership agenda were discussed.
The interlocutors commended the willingness of all parties, including EU member states, to actively engage and take targeted, practical steps to deepen the Armenia-EU cooperation in various directions. The Foreign Minister of Armenia and the EU Ambassador exchanged views on achievements and existing prospects in strengthening of democratic institutions, the rule of law and the protection of human rights, as well as in other key areas.
Both Armenia’s Foreign Minister and the EU Ambassador valued the steps undertaken towards implementing the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, as well as the effective realization of the Armenia-EU economic and investment plan; further anticipated dynamics were emphasized. Minister Mirzoyan stressed that the partnership between Armenia and the EU is based on shared values, and its further enrichment aims to ensure significant, tangible results for the citizens and society of the Republic of Armenia.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the latest developments in the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations as well as the vision of establishing lasting stability in the region and programs in that direction, including those involving EU or its direct support.
