In September, October and November, invitations were sent to the Armenian side to hold trilateral meetings with Azerbaijan, both in Moscow and within the framework of multilateral events. This was announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"The Russian side has not yet received clear answers from Armenia regarding the invitations. Yerevan wants to negotiate in Washington and Brussels, although neither the USA nor the EU can be considered honest mediators for a number of reasons. Their goal is to push Russia out of the South Caucasus. They want to destroy the existing security mechanisms, while stealing and distorting the trilateral agreements reached with the participation of Moscow. Therefore, it is not possible to expect real efficiency from their mediation.
Yerevan's unconditional confidence that the West would help them failed. Despite the existing invitations, the negotiations on the peace treaty have been frozen," Zakharova said.
According to her, the judgments about the benefits of the supply of French Bastion armored vehicles to Armenia seem quite naive. As Zakharova notes, in Ukraine they allegedly showed their very low efficiency in real combat conditions. Zakharova expressed her belief that France sold Armenia "illiquid military equipment", which Paris could not sell in other directions.
She also doubted that equipping with different production techniques could contribute to increasing defense capabilities.
