Maria Zakharova, representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the latest developments regarding the CSTO in a briefing, noted that ՞we are talking about a radical change in the orientation of Armenia in foreign policy".
According to Zakharova, the deployment of CSTO forces on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border will help to ensure Armenia's security, which the EU mission is currently not doing. And Yerevan's current statements are an attempt to "avoid responsibility" for their miscalculations.
"Talks that Armenia had to look for an alternative, not getting an answer to its requests from Russia, and it is not Armenia leaving the CSTO, but on the contrary, seems to me to be an attempt to avoid responsibility and find culprits in one's calculations.
Consultations were held both in a bilateral format and within the framework of the CSTO, but in Yerevan they decided in favor of accepting an EU mission.
Yerevan seeks to hold negotiations with US mediators, who are not interested in establishing peace in this region, and aim to push Russia out of the territory of the South Caucasus," Zakharova said.
