The masks are torn, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) no longer has a place in Azerbaijan, that's how the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev, responded to the continued support of the agency's head, Samantha Power, to Armenia.
Hajiyev blamed the United States for standing by Armenia and not supporting Azerbaijan for 30 years.
"When Power was the permanent representative of the United States in the UN Security Council, he never dared to raise the issue of Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons," Hajiyev stated. He accused Samantha Power of Azeri-hatred, Turk-hatred, political corruption and speculation.
Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Aykhan Hajizade, also called Power's statement that the ethnic Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh had to leave their homeland and went through great trials before reaching Armenia as baseless. He insisted that it is unfair to call the migration of Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh as forced resettlement.
