We are not surprised by such a harsh assessment of France's actions by Baku, Maria Zakharova stated, commenting on Aliyev's statement that France is preparing the ground for war in the South Caucasus.
When asked whether Moscow registers such risks, Zakharova said:
"Both Baku and a number of other places are tired of the stickiness of Paris, which is unsuccessfully trying to restore its political authority in the South Caucasus, which is also quite undermined in other parts of the world.
Unfortunately, risks of instability persist in the South Caucasus. In that regard, Russia is consistently working to turn the region into a zone of stability and prosperity, based on the balance of interests of all the countries of the region and their neighbors.
With this logic, we are building cooperation within the framework of the "3+3" consultative-regional platform, we are working towards the comprehensive regulation of relations between Baku and Yerevan, based on high-level trilateral agreements.
We have repeatedly said that the goals of the Western mediators, including France, are different, they strive to turn the South Caucasus into another stage of geopolitical confrontation," said the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
